Towards a modular Windows Mobile Phone 7?

It must be admitted, most of the mobile market is quite similar. A touch screen, a few physical buttons, sometimes a physical keyboard, you can not say that the card manufacturers play a lot of originality. Yes, but if we are to believe this new patent discovered by Engadget, then Microsoft might one day stand out from the competition by offering a modular and mobile phone fits your needs the likings of your desires. And one must admit, on paper, it's really very attractive ... just hope that one day the outcome was, of course.

For indeed, friends, always be wary of patents filed by the manufacturers. I repeat often, maybe a little too, but a patent is only used to protect an idea from its competitors. This does not mean that this idea will one day be applied, of course. But here, for once, we would like Microsoft to go somewhat further than the patent and a phone of this type really end up with emerge.

What is presented in this patent, so it's a phone on Windows Phone 7 (just look at the buttons below the screen) such as "slide". So far, nothing unusual, except that the slide does not carry a keyboard or a gamepad. No, actually, it is found in an empty slot in which it is possible to add a module, or an extension if you prefer.

The whole point of the thing is that this phone could be accompanied by different modules. Thus, we find a full physical keyboard, a gamepad, a second battery or a funny thing that could be a second touch screen (actually, I do not know, it's just a guess and I have any so no eyes in front of the hole so ...). And there, clearly, it's just a great idea. Genre you go on the road at the other end of the world? Hop, you chose the second battery. Want to play in transport? Hop, you catch the gamepad. A lot of mail waiting? Good, the physical keyboard is there for that. And so, of course, the possibility of a phone like this would be almost endless and it would be possible to imagine many other modules like ... uh ... well ... ahem ... well lots of other modules.

In short, it would still be too much class. But the best would be as it runs on Google Android, right?
